FAQs

Regen is the lowest grade of UHMWPE that is available, it has a molecular weight of 4 million which has a negative effect on its sliding and abrasion performance. It isn’t suitable for low friction sliding applications or food contact as it is not FDA approved. It is a lot cheaper than UHMWPE, which is why it is usually used in applications that do not require the unique properties of pressed of planed UHMWPE.

This depends on how high the temperature is but the 2 main plastics are:

  • Peek which is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic that is resistant to chemicals, wear, fatigue, creep and heat. It is so strong and adaptable; manufacturers use it as a replacement for metal in many applications no matter the temperature. It can withstand temperatures as high as 310°C (for short periods).
  • PTFE which is a soft, heat-resistant, low friction plastic with exceptional chemical resistance. It is unique as it is almost completely chemically inert and highly insoluble making it ideal for high temperature applications with a melting point of 327°C and is thermally stable enough to be used anywhere between 200°C  and 260°C.

When we manufacture components as a set there is only 1 set up charge for the full set as they are all ordered and machined at the same time, as well as this the sheet yield is a lot better. If we price for individual components, then there is a set up charge for each component as they all might not get ordered at the same time.

We do not have CMM inspections, but this can be arranged as we can outsource this if an inspection is required.

This really depends on the size of your order and the material needed, but we do have a standard lead time of between 10 – 14 days. It is a standard lead time and this can be looked at individually should you require parts more urgently or a quicker lead time. We will always work with you to ensure that you have what you need when you need it.

The simple answer is yes, we can run some quick tests on the material from a sample provided to us to establish what material it is. On the rare occasion these tests don’t give us the answer, we can send it off for lab testing at a cost which will be provided to you should that be needed.

Yes, we segregate our waste plastics into different groups so they can be collected and recycled for re-use.

The range of engineering plastics held at Partwell are all fit for Metal to Plastic applications and plastic component replacement.
