Plastic Parts: Which are the best wear resistant plastics?22nd January 2012, 19:22 Plastic Parts: Which are the best wear resistant plastics? Partwell engineering plastics can offer outstanding wear and abrasion resistance. Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene 1000 grade or UHMWPE is the toughest grade of Polyethylene, not only does it provide wear and abrasion resistance but also elongation and coefficient friction. PE1000 grade is perfect for high wear applications, often the material of choice in the conveyor, canning and bottling plants as wear parts and belts. Nylon plastic sheet also offers good wear and abrasion resistance. Nylon is a stiff material with good coefficient of friction. Often machined in to machine guards and guides. Both UHMWPE 1000 grade and nylon can be supplied as full or part sheets and CNC engineered into bespoke plastic parts and components. All engineering is conducted in Partwell’s Lancashire machine shop.
