The East Lancashire Hospice have laid the gauntlet, and Partwell have accepted the challenge. From April 1st through to September 1st, the Partwell Group along with other local businesses are taking part in the Corporate Challenge which aims to support the Hospice achieve their fundraising target for 2017. The East Lancashire Hospice, who support patients and their families during the most difficult times are required to raise a minimum of £3.5 million every year from fundraising in order to continue with the excellent services that they provide.

As part of the Corporate Challenge, 8 team members from Partwell have agreed to 'don the spandex' and ride 127 miles along the Leeds Liverpool canal on June 24th. Ashley, Jane, Matt, Shaun, Kieran, Tom, Cameron and Ruth are the slightly insane group who have agreed to sacrifice their legs and other extremities, in the quest for sponsorship.

The group are currently undertaking training rides to see how the 'peloton' fits together. On Friday 12th May, their first group outing saw them ride 30 miles along the canal from Partwell on Stanley Street. The Great British sunshine decided to make a welcomed appearance after a very drizzly start. Although, this was too late for two members of the team who were both taken down by the slippery cobbles along the canal. No serious bodily injuries occurred, however, Jane's bike was particularly unhappy with the incident and held such contempt that it now resides in Ewood bike shop awaiting repair.

The challenging ride is just one of the events that the group have planned over the coming months, the group have also planned poker nights, a cake stall, sponsored walks, a male leg wax, raffles and more.
